Project Overview

Welcome to the Transportation Safety Action Plan Project!

Our community's safety is a top priority for the City, and we are excited to share our efforts to create a safer, more accessible transportation network for everyone within the City of Decatur. The Comprehensive Transportation Safety Action Plan is a citywide initiative to improve the safety and usability of our streets for drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, and transit users alike.

Why This Plan Matters

Every year, traffic-related incidents impact the well-being of individuals and families across our city. This plan is a proactive approach to reduce traffic-related injuries and fatalities with the goal to eliminate serious injuries and fatalities by 2040, enhance equitable access, and promote community engagement.

Schedule

The Safety Action Plan is scheduled to occur beginning in early 2025, with a completion date of summer 2025. The project schedule is as follows:

  1. Data Collection and Analysis – Early 2025
  2. Community Input Opportunities – Ongoing throughout the project
  3. Draft Plan Development – Late summer 2025
  4. Plan Adoption and Implementation Strategy – To be determined by the City
